Ok, so fast forward a couple of weeks and I should be getting into the swing of things now.....I want to be organised and I always mean well, but I still find myself doing my "homework" the night before the class it's for and printing stuff off/reading relevant things at the very last minute!
The trouble I'm having is that there's just SO MUCH to do
, that I barely have time to finish my tasks for 1 class before it's time to start the next! I mean, in the average week I have to write up a log entry on effective interaction techniques, write up ANOTHER log entry for my experiences on mindfulness and self-discovery, learn a whole chapter's equivalent on new anatomy terms/body parts (bearing in mind I haven't done any biology in 12 years!) in 2 days - because we have 2 classes on anatomy a week - read the prescribed reading for both reflexology & massage subjects and also try to master the new reflexology & massage techniques by practising them on willing victims.... And on top of that, we just had our first test on anatomy and got an essay due next week /panic!
Funnily enough, there's a girl in our class who's just come from doing a psych degree and she has said the amount of work involved in this course is so much more that she is also struggling.
I don't know if this is like an extra-intensive course or if this is the norm for more practical subjects like this - I suppose it's heartening to know that they push so much detail, and I really like the fact that they come at it from a health perspective, so it's not just another wax+ beauty therapy course! But sheesh........give us a break to enjoy 1st year!!!
